SEATTLE and LAS VEGAS – Picnic, a producer of food automation technology, announced that it is accepting pre-orders from US customers for its now commercially available Pizza Picnic System with a robotics-as-a-service pricing model. This news came yesterday at the Pizza Expo 2021, being held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Aug. 17-19.
The system is the only modular and configurable pizza assembly system in the market that prioritizes saving time, money and labor through automation technology. The monthly subscription prices range between $3,500 and $5,000 depending on configuration and production volumes, and the company will manufacture and install existing customer orders through the end of the year. New system orders will begin to ship in 2022.
Picnic was founded in 2016 to address the changing needs of the foodservice industry. The pizza system is mainly focused on foodservice operators such as c-stores and stadiums, but Picnic is hoping to scale up for commissaries in the future.
The system uses any existing menu and assists operators in making up to 100 pizzas per hour while maintaining product consistency – the only limitations are set by the oven speed. The pricing model includes free delivery and installation, requires minimal training, and is ideal for all business sizes from large corporations to individually owned pizzerias. Through the Picnic robotics subscription service model, the system requires no upfront costs, includes free on-site maintenance checks, and is monitored 24/7 for maximum uptime.
“This is a huge milestone for Picnic, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce commercial availability,” said Clayton Wood, CEO of Picnic. “The team has been working tirelessly with customers and strategic partners over the past year to fine-tune the Picnic Pizza System. We’re very proud of the solution that we have created. The validation we’ve received from industry partners and customers reaffirms the need for kitchen automation solutions like ours, and we are looking forward to an excellent year ahead.”
To celebrate the announcement, attendees of Pizza Expo who are interested in installing the Picnic Pizza System will be eligible for special show pricing on a limited number of units priced at $2,500 per month. Picnic is located at booth 1963, where attendees can see live demos and enjoy pizza made by the system.
Although foodservice pizza is the group’s primary focus, there’s no limit on where the future will take Picnic.
“We are looking at more food products, but right now we’re really focusing on pizza,” said Scott Erickson, senior VP of marketing of Picnic. “We’re optimistic about opportunities for commissary production in the future.”
