Elected leaders recognized as ABA Baking Industry Champions

WASHINGTON, DC — US Reps. Donald Davis; John Joyce, MD; Sharice Davids; and Darin LaHood; and Sen. Jerry Moran were honored with the American Bakers Association (ABA)’s Baking Industry Champion Awards.

“Commercial baking is a foundational part of America’s food system, which provides safe, nutritious and affordable food while supporting communities nationwide,” said Eric Dell, president and CEO of ABA. “The Baking Industry Champions Awards recognize elected officials who understand the importance of this industry and have worked to advance policies that help bakers feed America and drive economic growth.”

Davis and Dr. Joyce serve as co-chairs of the Congressional Baking Caucus, a bipartisan group committed to addressing critical industry issues such as supply chain efficiencysustainability, workforce development and regulatory reform, and ensuring the needs of commercial baking manufacturers are represented in Congress. Rep. Davids is also a caucus member.

Earlier this year, ABA launched “Baking Feeds America,” an advocacy campaign that strives to communicate the essential role baked goods play in the daily lives of consumers to state and federal policymakers.
