CHICAGO — Doran Scales, a manufacturer of industrial and medical weighing equipment, is celebrating its 50th anniversary and highlighting its growth from a part-time venture to an industry-trusted company.

Founded in 1976 by Bill Podl, Doran has grown into a substantial manufacturer known for precision and durability. The company has maintained its family-owned status over the years as it passed hands in the Podl family, becoming a second-generation family business in 2007 when Shani and Mark Podl became owners.

As president, Shani leads the now woman-owned company toward its future with a focus on the foundational principles that built its reputation for: reliable products, paired with its innovation across the scale industry.

“At Doran, we’re so proud to be a part of a long, family-owned legacy,” Shani said. “Now it’s our responsibility to make sure the next 50 years are just as bright.”
