COLLEGEDALE, TN — For the first time, Little Debbie is adding a new flavor to its signature Swiss Roll line. The McKee Foods brand, which introduced Swiss Rolls to its snack cake portfolio in the early ’60s, is testing the waters with the addition of Little Debbie Mocha Swiss Rolls.
“Our product development team really listened to what our consumers wanted,” said Scott Brownlow, Little Debbie’s brand manager. “The early feedback has been incredible. We are thrilled to bring this highly anticipated flavor to the market.”
Expanding on the classic snack cake variety, the new cafe-inspired flavor features the original chocolate cake layered with a mocha-flavored creme, all enrobed in chocolate. This addition follows global consumer interest in beverage flavor profiles.
According to Tastewise, coffee roast flavor profiles are up 88% as coffee continues shaping bakery innovation. Espresso-infused ganache and mocha glazes highlight the combination of trends that transcend both sides of the food and beverage industry.
The new cakes are rolling out now at retailers nationwide in 12-count boxes of the brand’s standard individually wrapped twin-packs.
This new variety marks the second mocha-flavored treat foray from McKee Foods. Earlier this year, the baking company’s Drake’s brand debuted Mochaccino Devil Dogs to celebrate the snack cake’s 100th birthday.
