EAST HANOVER, NJ — After disappearing from the public eye in 2012, OREO Cakesters were in high demand, with consumers calling for the Mondelez International brand to bring back the treat. It listened, and in 2022, OREO Cakesters hit the market once again.

Now, the soft-baked whoopie pies have been reformulated to further meet the desires of the modern consumer, the one in search of texture, flavor and convenience.

“We found that modern snackers are looking for multi-textural treats that they can take on the go, integrating seamlessly into their busy lives,” said Melissa Renny, senior director of cake and pastries at Mondelez. “At the same time, we know one of the biggest barriers in the snack cake category can be dryness. To meet that demand, we relaunched OREO Cakesters with an even softer, more delicious formula.”

Available in differentiated format sizes for on-the-go convenience, the OREO Cakesters’ new recipe features softer cake with a balanced creme filling.

“By upgrading the taste and texture while introducing convenient new formats, we are delivering the beloved OREO experience in a grab-and-go snack that consumers have been waiting for,” Renny said.

Consumers can find the new recipe on store shelves in three classic flavors — Original, Golden and Double Chocolate — for an SRP of $5.59 per 10-pack box.
