MINNEAPOLIS — Rise Baking Co. has responded to the FDA’s push to phase out synthetic dyes, announcing a company-wide commitment to eliminate the use of these ingredients across its product portfolio by the end of 2026.

Parent company to brands such as Table Talk Pies, Best Maid and Bakestone Brothers, Rise Baking has previously prioritized the use of natural alternatives and is well underway to eliminate synthetic colors from its various cookies, pies, cakes, icings and muffins.

“At Rise, our customers are at the center of everything we do, and we’re committed to staying ahead of industry expectations to make it easier for our customers to do the same,” said Brian Zellmer, CEO of Rise Baking. “Eliminating synthetic colors is a meaningful step in our broader efforts to enhance product transparency and meet evolving regulatory and consumer demands without compromising the quality and reliability our partners count on every day.”

Rise Baking has a designated team working closely with global ingredient partners to ensure a smooth transition. The baking company is leveraging colors derived from a variety of natural sources to deliver the visual appeal and smooth texture its products are known for.

All reformulated products will undergo testing to ensure consistency, quality and performance. The company began removing Red No. 3 from its portfolio in 2024 and is on track to complete the transition ahead of regulatory requirements.
