DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY — With iba 2025 on the horizon, set for May 18-22, bakers from six countries are preparing to compete for the gold in the iba UIBC Cup of Bakers.

The competition — organized by the German Baker’s Confederation, the owner of iba — will feature the best bakers from Germany, France, Iceland, Jordan, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Under the theme of “Art,” bakers will be tasked with producing creative and precise edible works of art with no imitations. In only six hours, teams of two bakers will craft bread, small and Danish pastries as well as a main showpiece.

The baking will take place in glass show bakeries, allowing attendees to watch the competition up close and in real time.

Judging will be conducted by a jury consisting of judges from Switzerland, Ireland and Austria, as well as jury chair Andreas Schmidt.

“The iba UIBC Cup of Bakers competition is a wonderful opportunity for talented bakers to prove themselves on an international level,” Schmidt said. “As in the past, we expect outstanding work at the highest level. For the participants, the competition means hard work with intensive preparation times, but above all a lot of fun and inspiration for personal development.”

Iceland, the Netherlands and Sweden will compete May 18, with Germany, France and Jordan competing May 19.

The first judging of the Danish pastries, biscuits and small products will occur May 18 and 19 at 1 p.m. The showpieces will be presented at 3:30 p.m., and the bread and masterpiece will be judged on both days at 4 p.m.

Germany: Johanna Lenhardt and Lea Wagner
Iceland: Sigrun Sol Vigfusdottir and Nastasja Kiencke
