LAS VEGAS — After two years, Schubert North America, based in Charlotte, NC, returned to Pack Expo 2021, one of the largest international trade shows for packaging and processing technologies, held Sept. 27-29 in Las Vegas. The company, a market leader in top-loading packaging machines and part of the Schubert Group based in Crailsheim, Germany, successfully premiered its new case packer: the lightline Carton Packer.
“Pack Expo is an important platform for Schubert North America to introduce new developments to the US market, especially to manufacturers in the western states,” said Hartmut Siegel, CEO at Schubert North America. The event’s organizer (PMMI), its exhibitors and attendees showed that despite the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person events can be performed safely and successfully.
The sales and service teams of Schubert’s North American subsidiary showcased the company’s newest innovations, presenting them live and in-person to the public for the first time, including the debut of the lightline Cartonpacker. This solution allows manufacturers to benefit from a cost-effective case packer to quickly automate their packaging processes with the most efficient technology on the market. With Schubert’s lightline solutions, a large part of the configuration is built-in. Drawing on the expertise the company has accumulated from building other case packers, Schubert has preconfigured a packaging machine that can implement the most common process steps in case packing. This provides manufacturers with a highly affordable automation solution for specific product and packaging formats.
The exhibited lightline Cartonpacker is part of a modular Schubert TLM system for Michigan-based Hudsonville Ice Cream. Hudsonville Ice Cream co-manufactures the famous frozen Greek yogurt bars for the brand Yasso. The case packer will be installed together with four cartoners and one more case packer on site until the end of 2021.
“As a contract manufacturer, flexibility in manufacturing is key to success. As consumer preferences change, so do future products and formats. While producing for other brands as well as manufacturing our own branded products, flexible end-of-line systems, such as our new Schubert packaging machines, ensure competitive advantage,” said John St. Aubin, operations leader at Hudsonville Ice Cream. “It’s great to see part of our machine system exhibited at Pack Expo and how it attracts other manufacturer. This confirms once again that opting for Schubert was the right choice.”

Schubert is well-known in the US and Canada, especially to large manufacturers, for its modular flexible single-source solutions, which combine pick-and-place, flow-wrapping cartoning and other technologies in one system.
