CHARLOTTE, NC — Schubert North America has announced plans to center its North American operations in Charlotte, NC, to work more autonomously and provide enhanced customer support to the region.

North America is one of the German company’s most important export markets, and it’s developing quickly despite pandemic-related challenges. There are 213 German companies with branch offices in the Charlotte area, making the city a popular North American hub.

“The market has developed disproportionately well,” said Hartmut Siegel, CEO of Schubert North America. “Fortunately, the pandemic has not slowed down the ongoing development of our product innovations. Demand from our North American customers for state-of-the-art packaging technology with great flexibility and a high degree of automation has been high.”

The pandemic also brought clarity to the company on the importance of hands-on support for its North American customers, which was an influential factor in the selection process of the new headquarters location.

“With this in mind, we are now further expanding our location for our North American customers,” Siegel said. “In addition to our new offices, an assembly hall will also be built at the new location. Final assembly and commissioning for TLM packaging machines will be carried out there. There will be a workshop for service activities as well. In the past, customers often had to fly to Schubert’s global headquarters in Crailsheim, Germany, to approve their machines. In the future, approvals of selected machines will take place directly on site in Charlotte.”

The company also plans to partner with nearby University of North Carolina and Central Piedmont Community College for employee education and potential internships for students at the institutions.

“The first customers have already been informed on our project and they are enthusiastic,” Siegel said. “Our employees are also excited about our plans.”
