WASHINGTON, DC — The educational programming for NEXUS, powered by BEMA and the American Bakers Association (ABA) and set for Oct. 1-3 in Washington, DC, is now available on the event website.
Education sessions are available to all NEXUS participants and will be held on Oct. 2 and 3 in three one-hour blocks. These learning opportunities are presented by an assortment of experts including fellow baking industry members.

The New Sales & Marketing MOSAIC | Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Led by Shawna Suckow, a marketing and consumer behavior expert with 20 years of experience as a corporate buyer, this session will highlight how the Marketing Mosaic helps companies humanize information for prospects and offers guidance on crafting a compelling brand story.
Lego Leadership | Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.
In this hands-on session, Gideon Culman, founder and president of K Street Coaching, will lead participants to build Lego models that illustrate the most important needs for their business. In turn, this will help NEXUS attendees more effectively communicate what they need and can offer to others.
Growth Through Mentorship | Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 3 p.m.
Kristen Spriggs, executive director of the American Society of Baking, will present on how mentors and mentees can gain valuable skills and professional growth from one another.
Hygienic Equipment Design for Low Moisture Foods Insights | Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Carlos Quintero and Tom Egan, director of industry services and VP of industry services for PMMI, respectively, will present an overview of hygienic equipment design practices backed by the latest insight.
Unlocking the Future of Food Science: How the CAPS Network Connects Industry Leaders with Tomorrow’s Talent | Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
This presentation by Jennifer Lindsey, chief marketing and digital officer/chief transformation officer for Corbion, will walk NEXUS attendees through the CAPS Network and how the program connects high school students with hands-on experiences in the food manufacturing industry.
ABA Policy Updates | Oct. 2 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.
Those interested in the latest on policy issues impacting the baking industry can pop into this session to hear from ABA’s government relations team: Rasma Zvaners, VP of government relations; Bill Dumais, state affairs manager; and Campbell Genn, senior director of government relations. The trio will cover how federal legislative and regulatory issues can impact attendees’ businesses.
