KANSAS CITY, MO — The future of the workforce is a major concern across the commercial baking industry. To cultivate the next generation’s talents, Multivac USA, a provider of packaging and processing solutions, designed an apprenticeship program and recently celebrated the graduation of its first cohort.

The six new technical professionals spent two years developing technical skills through classroom learning, lab simulations and working alongside Multivac’s professionals in the field. In addition to the hands-on experience, apprentices were able to utilize mentorship resources, certification pathways and gained access to processing, packaging and automation technologies.

“We all recognize the urgent need for highly skilled technical professionals to sustain and grow our critical operations,” said Matt Malott, president and CEO of Multivac. “Multivac took that understanding and turned it into action, developing and making investments in a structured apprenticeship program that recruits and trains emerging talent to meet the needs of our customers and, ultimately, the great markets we proudly serve.”

Upon completing the program, the apprentices joined Multivac’s field service team, which plays a vital role in providing customer support services.
