LOS ANGELES — As part of La Brea Bakery’s strategic decision to expand its business through grocery and foodservice locations, the company permanently closed its La Brea Bakery Café locations in Los Angeles and Downtown Disney District in Anaheim, CA, effective Jan. 9.
“We are so thankful and hold a tremendous amount of appreciation for our employees, and for our customers who have frequented La Brea Bakery Café over the years,” said Tyson Yu, CEO of Aspire Bakeries, which owns La Brea Bakery. “Our flagship Café location on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles is where the La Brea Bakery magic started 34 years ago. These humble beginnings are an integral part of the brand history, and we will forever be grateful to the local community for their support over the years.”
The Aspire Bakeries human resources team began working with employees who were impacted by the closures to smooth the transition.
The bakery’s long history began in Los Angeles and eventually evolved into the leading artisan bread brand nationally. Thirty-four years later, the brand is still using the original custom sourdough starter and has yet to change its recipe and artisan techniques.
Franchised La Brea Bakery kiosks in the Reno International Airport and JFK Airport will remain open. Additionally, the company will continue to bake artisan bread every day at its bakeries in California and New Jersey, while continuing its business growth in grocery and foodservices.
