ROBESONIA, PA — Reading Bakery Systems (RBS), a leading manufacturer of baked snack production systems, announced the promotion of Kevin Bowes to director of engineering.
Since 2008, Joanie Spencer has covered the retail and wholesale sides of the baking industry.
Serving associations such as the American Society of Baking (ASB) and BEMA, Joanie is also in demand as an industry presenter on bakery operations and trends. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Rockhurst University and a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
When she’s not running or playing soccer, Joanie spends her time with her husband and 11-year-old son.

In this new role, Bowes will be responsible for the engineering and design of all RBS equipment, as well as ensuring compliance with industry manufacturing standards and meeting customer specifications.
“Kevin has exhibited exemplary skill, professionalism and leadership during his time with RBS,” said Travis Getz, senior VP of operations for RBS. “We are excited to see the continued growth and development of the engineering department under his guidance.”
Bowes joined the RBS team in 2014 as an intern. He was hired full-time as a mechanical design engineer and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including a senior mechanical design engineer and, most recently, mechanical engineering manager.
