J.M. Smucker issues Hostess recall due to mold risk

ORRVILLE, OH — Hostess, a The J.M. Smucker Co. brand, announced a voluntary recall for some varieties of its Ding Dongs snack cakes in the US.

The recall is a cautionary action due to potential mold contamination. Five Hostess Chocolate Ding Dong types were impacted by the recall, including Single Serve 2-count, 10-count and the 16-count Family Pack. The recalled Ding Dongs have a “Best By” date range of Aug. 30-Sept. 3.

J.M. Smucker reported that, upon investigation, a mechanical issue was identified as the cause of the potential mold risk. No other products from the company were impacted by the issue.

This recall only applies to the specific products and flavors mentioned above. Consumers are advised to return them to the store of purchase for a refund.
