Since 2008, Joanie Spencer has covered the retail and wholesale sides of the baking industry. Serving associations such as the American Society of Baking (ASB) and BEMA, Joanie is also in demand as an industry presenter on bakery operations and trends. ROBESONIA, PA — Reading Bakery Systems (RBS), a leading manufacturer of snack production systems, announced the passing of Sally Lugar, wife of the late Tom Lugar, owner of Thomas L. Green & Co. (T.L. Green), prior to the RBS acquisition in 2001. She was 89 years old.

T.L. Green was founded by Tom Lugar’s grandfather, Thomas L Green, in 1893. Sally was a long-time supporter of RBS and served as secretary of the Cookie and Snack Bakers Association for several years.

“Sally worked informally for T.L. Green and RBS in various capacities over many years,” said Chip Czulada, president of RBS. “She left a positive, indelible mark on everyone she met, and she will be missed dearly.”
