OVERLAND PARK, KS — Baking industry vet Ali Elmusa passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer on March 13. He was 74 years old.
Annie Hollon is a journalist, copywriter and social media strategist from the Dallas, Texas area. She found a love for magazine writing during her time at the University of Alabama where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, double majoring in public relations and English. Beyond writing, you can find her expanding her library, attempting to teach herself the guitar and trying new hobbies.
OVERLAND PARK, KS — Baking industry vet Ali Elmusa passed away after a prolonged battle with cancer on March 13. He was 74 years old.
Elmusa was a well-respected member of the baking industry. With experience at the Continental Baking Co. and Wonder Bread, he developed an interest in advanced baking science. In turn, he joined Archer Daniels Midland and worked in its R&D lab for twenty years developing several successful products and contributing to multiple food product patents. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Desoto, KS-based Custom Foods.
He is survived by his wife Mary Haman Elmusa, sons Joseph and Sam Elmusa, daughter-in-law Melissa Hoffman and grandson Anthony Elmusa, as well as his brothers, sister and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial graveside service will be held on March 20 at 3 p.m. at Johnson County Memorial Gardens followed by a reception at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the University of Kansas Medical Center are suggested.
