CHICAGO — The Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA), a student-governed member community within the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), announced the finalists for the 36th Annual IFTSA and Mars Product Development Competition (PDC).
The competition, sponsored by Mars Snacking, charges each participating school’s team with developing a new food idea and carrying the concept through the marketing and commercialization processes. At IFT FIRST, to be held July 12-15 in Chicago, each of the six finalist teams will showcase their product with a tasting session and oral presentation, evaluated by a panel of judges. The experts on the panel will judge each entry for factors including shelf life, profitability and flavor. Finalists will compete for a $3,000 prize, with the winning team also receiving a mentorship opportunity with Mars Snacking.
