JACKSON, MI — Eric Metzendorf, chief corporate affairs and strategic partnership officer with Dawn Foods, will retire after 33 years with the company.

Metzendorf developed his passion for baking at his family’s distribution business in New Jersey, where he cultivated his skills along with a deep understanding of the baking business.

In 1990, Metzendorf brought those skills to Dawn, where he quickly progressed through the company because of his leadership, innovative ideas and commitment to excellence. Under his leadership, Dawn’s distribution experienced steady growth, and the company developed an industry-leading, national network.

He also helped guide Dawn’s purchasing team and made strategic partnerships throughout the industry, including the Partnering for Growth initiative, which leverages Dawn’s purchasing volume to drive growth along with its independent distributor partners and suppliers. Metzendorf also helped create internal initiatives such as the Dawn Advisory Council.

“Eric’s contributions to Dawn have been immeasurable, and we will miss his expertise and leadership,” said Carrie Jones-Barber, CEO of Dawn Foods. “We are tremendously grateful for his unwavering support and partnership throughout the years and wish him all the best in his retirement.”

In his retirement, Metzendorf will continue to support Dawn in retirement by working on special projects and continuing to advise teams on strategic partnerships, distribution services and trade associations.
