As a way to contribute to the Recycle, Save and Impact a Community program, Shoprite customers were able to bring their empty Thomas’ Breakfast, Arnold Bread and Sara Lee Bread bags to receive a coupon for a dollar off their next purchase at the store.

BBU and TerraCycle utilized the recycled bags to create outdoor tables and benches donated to six food banks in local ShopRite communities.

The baking company’s partnership with the international recycling leader has been long-lasting, allowing consumers to recycle their bread, buns, bagels and English muffin bags rather than throwing them away. For each pound of packaging waste sent to TerraCycle through the BBU program, consumers can earn points that can be used towards charitable gifts or transformed into cash and donated to non-profits.
