MIAMI — Following the launch of its new chocolate panettone variety, Bauducco is transforming Dec. 15, traditionally recognized as International Panettone Day, into International Chocottone Day.

In response to consumers seeking more decadent, chocolate-forward flavors, the Brazilian baking company developed Bauducco Chocottone, a twist on the Italian holiday sweet loaf. The ready-to-eat treat is now filled with real chocolate chips and finished with a fudge coating and is available in three flavors: Chocottone Chocolate Chips, Chocottone Peanut Butter and Chocottone Hazelnut Cream.

Bauducco is celebrating the newly appointed holiday by offering consumers discounts on Chocottone products purchased on Amazon and Instacart.

“International Chocottone Day is a wonderful occasion to gather and celebrate, and we invite everyone — whether you’re familiar with Chocottone or discovering it for the first time — to join us,” said Juliana Corá Bastos, marketing and trade marketing director at Bauducco International BU. “By declaring it International Chocottone Day, we’re honoring heritage and tradition while welcoming the next generation of consumers to experience this evolution of the classic panettone.”

As a tradition of the holiday season, Panettone is a specially crafted baked good, with specific criteria expected from the final product. This year, alongside the World Bread Awards and Pillsbury’s Creative Cake Decorating Competition, the International Baking Industry Exposition hosted the Panettone World Cup.

The competition, held in partnership with Coppa del Mondo del Panettone, challenged bakers to craft their own versions of the sweet loaf, which were judged on external appearance, interior structure, and sensory qualities such as aroma, flavor, fruit distribution and overall balance.
