AUSTIN, TX — Amia, an Austin, TX-based CPG startup, launched the first migraine-friendly snack line.

Created in collaboration with Dr. Alexander Mauskop, a neurologist and migraine specialist, the idea was to bring functional food to the migraine market through snack bars free of common migraine triggers such as nuts, chocolate, soy, gluten and artificial sweeteners.

“These bars address several problems patients with migraines face,” Dr. Mauskop said. “Hunger is a common trigger and I always struggle deciding what to recommend for a snack between meals or at night. The problem with most snacks is that they have too much sugar, or they contain artificial sweeteners, preservatives, chocolate or other triggering ingredients.”

Packed with natural sources, the products are baking to the allergen-free category.

Available in three flavors — Coconut, Cinnamon and Original — the bars contain a mix of gluten-free rolled oats and a blend of superfood seeds including chia, hemp hearts, ground flax and pepita.

“Snack bars are our initial foray into a far-reaching mission, one dedicated to simplifying the dietary choices of those contending daily with migraine triggers,” said Jon Katz, founder and CEO of Amia.

Consumers can purchase the bars through the Amia website.
