INDIANAPOLIS — The American Society of Baking (ASB)’s Mentoring Program brings baking professionals together to share ideas and grow through one-on-one relationships designed to foster learning, connection and professional development. The 5-month, members-only program is the only formal mentoring platform in the baking industry, serving as an important resource for developing and sustaining the future of baking.

“Being part of the mentoring program has been an invaluable experience,” said Tracey West, owner of Tracey West Irresistible Pound Cakes and a 2024 Mentoring Program participant. “It has provided me with guidance, insight and practical knowledge that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve gained confidence in my abilities, learned new strategies for success and built meaningful connections.”

From September 2026 to February 2027, a cohort of baking professionals of all levels and roles will participate in a virtual training and networking experience, meeting once a month with their paired mentor/mentee as well as completing The Art of Mentoring, an online module that will help set goals and build effective relationships.

“The program helped keep me aligned and focused on my career in a way that I would not have otherwise been,” said Harrison Helmick, senior scientist at Roquette and previous ASB mentor and mentee. “It’s not just about a specific skill but rather someone holding me accountable to a career-focused mindset.”

Applications are open now through Aug. 17. For more information, interested applicants are invited to attend an Information Webinar on Monday, Aug. 3 at noon ET. Register here.
