CHARLOTTE, NC — Popular donut chain Krispy Kreme is battling a cyberattack that has impacted online ordering and delivery operations in parts of the US. The company noticed unauthorized activity in a portion of its information technology systems on Nov. 29 and enlisted the services of cybersecurity experts immediately.
In an 8-K report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Krispy Kreme said it is working with those external experts to mitigate and remediate the impact.
While the full financial impact of the attack is yet unknown, expected costs include lost revenue from online sales, payment for cybersecurity, and system restoration costs, with cybersecurity insurance offsetting a portion of these expenses.
Daily deliveries to retail and foodservice customers were not affected by the cyberattack.
