BERKELEY, CA — Upcycled Foods Inc. and Act Bar, a better-for-you protein bar company, launched a new line of snack bars that are upcycled certified, vegan and non-GMO.
The Upcycled Foods Lab (UFL) supported the development of Act Bar’s product line as an innovation partner. UFL helps industry members launch innovative products, turn food waste into profit and secure supply chains with sustainable alternatives.
“We’re excited to partner with Act Bar and bring a sustainable and delicious snack bar to consumers that supports those in need,” said Dan Kurzrock, co-founder and CEO of Upcycled Foods. “Our mission is to support brands in creating innovative products that are better for the planet and for people. This product brings that promise to life in an exciting new category.”
Packed with 12 grams of plant protein and 9 grams of dietary fiber, the bars include ReGrained SuperGrain, an upcycled ingredient created from the leftover grain in the beer brewing process.

Featuring flavors such as Cashew Coconut, Peanut Butter Cacao Nib, and Pecan S’mores, the snack bars are available in 12-count boxes for an SRP of $3.49-$3.99 at select Southern California grocery stores and on the Act Bar website.
Act Bar will be donating one meal per every individual bar sold, aiming to reduce food insecurity and minimize food waste.
