BOULDER, CO — The Paleo Diet, an organization promoting a dietary lifestyle centered on pre-agricultural revolution human eating habits, has launched a new food certification program.

The diet is centered on eliminating highly processed foods made with GMOs, legumes, dairy and grains. Although grains are not on the menu for many paleo eaters, many baking companies such as Base Culture and Siete are still going after grain-free consumers with new formulations focusing on things like almond flour.

The certification process is now available to food manufacturers, retailers and other partners. Brand licensing is available through its exclusive licensing partner The Valen Group.

After years of development, we’re excited to announce our certification program, which is based on the original science of leading researchers like Dr. Loren Cordain and Dr. Boyd Eaton,” said Trevor Connor, CEO of The Paleo Diet. “The goal of our certification program is to clear up confusion in the marketplace and help consumers make healthier choices. Our new certification empowers consumers to know which foods are truly healthy.”

The organization states that the total market value of Paleo foods is over $200 billion annually and continues to grow.
