CARSON CITY, NV— Stellar Snacks, a mother-daughter-owned snack company, announces plans to expand production with a new facility in Louisville, KY.
The $137 million investment will take place over the next 10 years and will create a 434,000-sq.-ft. pretzel bakery. Stellar Snack’s new bakery will also open 350 full-time jobs during the 10-year production timeline in Louisville’s western neighborhoods.
Sales of Stellar Snacks’ flagship Pretzel Braids are up 162% in the last 52 weeks, falling in line with the pretzel category being one of the fastest-growing categories in salty snacks.
“We are humbled and honored that our business has seen astounding growth after launching our brand just a few short years ago, thanks to our people and passion for a higher quality pretzel,” said Elisabeth Galvin, founder of Stellar Snacks. “Since then, we have been on a mission to expand production coast to coast, and we are so pleased to have selected Louisville as our home in the mid-south. The outcome will be an important success story for our whole team and the people of Kentucky. We can’t emphasize enough that our goal is to provide career opportunities and positive impact in Louisville, especially in the Park Hill community so we can flourish together in the years to come.”
The Louisville bakery will be the brand’s largest pretzel bakery, and its central location will help Stellar Snacks reach the Eastern and Southern US. Production is scheduled to begin on this bakery in 2024 and by next fall, baking of initial products is set to begin.
Jobs at this bakery will include pretzel makers, production team members, engineering and maintenance managers, mechanics, technicians, receptionists, and HR assistants. Stellar Snacks’ leaders will also partner with community colleges and trade schools in the area to provide real-world experience for students interested in industrial, electrical and robotic engineering careers.
