PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI – SoFresh Inc., a packaging and container manufacturing company focused on eliminating food waste, has announced the beta launch of its patent-pending coverings and container products to help food last longer.

The packages and coverings are designed to wrap food in an atmosphere that inhibits mold growth and extends shelf life. The film products are infused with FDA-approved, food-grade natural extracts that emit an active, controlled vapor that is absorbed by mold spores. This slows down the mold’s metabolism, hindering the ability for it to thrive. This can dramatically reduce food waste, save money and aligns itself with consumer desire for clean label products.

shelf life breadThe food extract-based vapor has been tested successfully on many foods such as bread, cheese and berries, and it does not change or add to the smell or taste of the product. The shelf life extension can be tailored to different food types and can lengthen the shelf life by hours or days.

The company plans to begin using its products in bread packaging first, alleviating the need to freeze bread until sale for mold reduction purposes. This also eliminates the need to use any unwanted preservatives, conditioners and extenders.

The products can be integrated into current manufacturing lines with no additional capital cost for additional equipment.

More information on the product and team is available at the company’s website.
