BERKLEY, CA — ReGrained, a leading upcycling food and technology platform that transforms ingredients like spent brewer’s grain, declared a new pledge to rescue more than 10 million pounds of food from overlooked supply chains and develop it into commercially viable ingredients by 2025.
The company made the pledge on Earth Day as a commitment to champion the health of the planet. Measures will also be taken to expand sales of its flagship product and introduce new ingredient lines into its commercial partnership platform.
“Earth Day gives us an opportunity to communicate ReGrained’s authentic commitment to better align the food system with the planet and people we love,” said Dan Kurzrock, founder and CEO of ReGrained.
ReGrained’s Upcycled Food Lab is focused on business-to-business innovation services and ingredient sales to deliver on its ten-million-pound commitment. The lab is dedicated to showcasing the benefits for Earth and enterprise that lie within upcycling, and how it presents a unique innovation opportunity.
It also can offer infrastructure for food makers to bring this process into their products, including product strategy, R&D, business development and marketing.
“Globally we are leaving too much food off the table,” Kurzrock said. “At ReGrained, we believe all food that’s produced should be eaten, which is why we’re obsessed with valorizing could-be food that is conventionally neglected and not recognized as food loss. The scale of this opportunity is humbling, but with today’s ten-million-pound pledge we canonize our commitment to the fight to end food waste every day.”
