PENNSAUKEN, NJ — Puratos and AMF Bakery Systems, global leaders in their respective segments of the baking industry, joined forces to launch the Puratos Industrial Pilot Bakery, powered by AMF.

The facility, developed over a three-year collaborative journey, combines Puratos’ expertise in ingredients and recipe formulation with AMF’s advanced bakery equipment and integrated automation solutions. The partnership spawned a state-of-the-art facility designed to accelerate innovation and product development for commercial bakeries across North America.

The idea behind the Industrial Pilot Bakery was to amalgamate closed-loop innovation and bring it to the forefront. Whenever bakers face limited labor resources, the new facility provides commercial bakers with the ability to respond quickly to consumer demand for new products.

“Today marks a bold step forward in innovation in the baking industry,” said Andrew Brimacombe, president of Puratos USA. “As consumer expectations have evolved, so too have the challenges our customers face. They’re being asked to innovate faster, execute more efficiently and do more with fewer resources. This facility was born from a simple but powerful idea to help our customers overcome these challenges and move the industry forward.”

The new space is inside the Puratos USA headquarters and offers direct access to a range of cutting-edge baking equipment, co-creation spaces and demo areas for hands-on training. The arrangement fosters an environment where ideation meets execution, allowing bakers to seamlessly transition from concept to commercialization during a single facility visit.

“We began on this path of exploration more than three years ago with a shared recognition that our common customers needed a better way to do product development, training, testing and white space innovation,” said Jason Ward, president and CEO of AMF. “We have complementary strengths, a shared passion for baking and a focus on our customers that we knew would translate to a powerful collaboration.”

To celebrate the grand opening, the companies hosted a ribbon-cutting on June 9 in Pennsauken, NJ. The event welcomed a distinguished panel of guests, including American Bakers Association president Eric Dell; Nicole Roberts, mayor of Pennsauken; members of the New Jersey legislature; and executives from both Puratos and AMF.

Puratos and AMF led attendees through guided tours of the new facility, live product demonstrations of advanced bakery automation, product tastings and interactive sessions showcasing the collaborative innovation process.

The new facility is now open and available for customer collaboration sessions, innovation workshops and technical training, in addition to project-based work around recipe development, ingredient replacement, cost reduction and process optimization.
