ORLANDO, FL — Pop-Tarts, a Kellanova brand, unveiled its 2024 Pop-Tarts Bowl championship trophy just days from the anticipated event.
Developed in partnership with GE Appliances, the trophy is the first of its kind, featuring a fully functional toaster inside. The concept was built from media feedback and consumer enthusiasm that turned a gameday keepsake into an interactive celebration of nostalgia and flavor.
“Our fans have made it clear: The Pop-Tarts Bowl isn’t just another game, it’s also an experience,” said Steve Hogan, Pop-Tarts Bowl’s CEO. “We listened, and with the help of GE Appliances, we’re delivering a trophy that doesn’t just sit on a trophy stand. We’re excited to share this fusion of fun and functionality with college football fans everywhere.”
The trophy was officially revealed and used for the first time on Dec. 15 in Orlando during a ceremony that included representatives from Pop-Tarts and GE Appliances.
The event invited guests to christen the trophy and eat the first pastries toasted from it and provided a first look at the trophy’s design and engineering. The brand saw it as a way to kick off the Pop-Tarts Bowl experience for both teams.
“Pop-Tarts made a promise to turn convention on its head for the Pop-Tarts Bowl, and we stand by our word,” said Heidi Ray, senior director of marketing for Pop-Tarts. “By working with GE Appliances to make the trophy into an actual, working toaster, we are dialing up the ‘Crazy Good’ in this time-honored football ritual.”
The Miami Hurricanes and the Iowa State Cyclones will face off in the Pop-Tarts Bowl Dec. 28.
