ERIE, CO — The National Honey Board announced 12 products that received a Queen’s Choice Award this year.
The distinction is given to products that showcase honey’s versatility as a sweetener, flavor, functional ingredient and the product’s marketplace positioning.
Of the 12 products selected by the organization, nearly half fall into the baking category.
In the bread category, Bimbo Bakeries USA brand Arnold Premium Breads’ Grains Almighty Gut Balance was recognized for its diverse, nutrient-rich whole grains and its positioning as a honey-sweetened bread market toward consumers who are conscious of their gut health.
Base Culture’s Simple Honey Nut Bread offers keto- and paleo-friendly ingredients and features honey iconography across the packaging.
Evergreen’s winning entry, Zucchini and Carrot Waffles, was highlighted by the National Honey Board as “one of the most innovative made with-honey entrees” of 2023.
California Pizza Kitchen got a slice of the action with its win for the Uncured Pepperoni & Hot Honey Pizza, highlighting a continued trend of complex flavor experiences.
For salty snacks, Calbee’s Harvest Snaps in Honey Dijon not only showed how honey can be used as a natural sweetener, but it follows the permissive indulgence trends with its protein base.
