EAST HANOVER, NJ — Mondelez International is making “MMMprovements” to its iconic Chips Ahoy! chocolate chip cookie recipe. The reformulation, which required 5,000 hours in the test kitchen and more than 60 recipes, is the brand’s first reformulation in nearly 10 years.
“Chips Ahoy! cookies have been beloved by generations and have over 53% market share, but in a category where taste is king and many chocolate chip cookies look the same, we wanted to challenge ourselves to step up our quality while staying true to what our fans already love,” said Sabrina Sierant, senior director of Chips Ahoy!
The new recipe features a new specially blended chocolate chip created exclusively for the Chips Ahoy! MMMproved cookie. The chocolate chips feature a higher cacao content and concentrate of Madagascar vanilla extract.
Other updates include a richer cookie flavor and creamy chocolate taste, the national implementation of a mixing process to enhance the cookie’s texture, and a more modern packaging design that includes an updated logo and graphics and more prominent background graffiti.
