RICHMOND, VA — Mondelez International celebrated the 50th anniversary of its Richmond Biscuit Manufacturing Plant with a ceremony attended by elected officials, company leadership, and local employees and their families.

Beginning operations in 1973, the Richmond bakery has served as a staple in Mondelez’ US manufacturing network by supporting the production of key cookies and crackers which includes brands such as OREO, Chips Ahoy!, Nilla Wafers, RITZ and Wheat Thins. About 650 employees operate the Richmond facility, more than half of the company’s overall operations workforce in Virginia.

The Richmond bakery serves as the East Coast hub for Mondelez’ US biscuit manufacturing network. The baking company continues to invest in this bakery’s infrastructure and capabilities to simultaneously prepare it for future growth and advance Mondelez’ sustainability goals.
