CHICAGO — In alignment with its “Snacking Made Right” sustainability strategy and Vision 2030 goals, Mondelez International announced new additions to its Sustainable Futures Impact Investment platform.

The global baking company’s direct investments include eAgronom, an ag-tech company that aids farmers with soil health, reduced carbon emissions and sustainable practices; Ziro, a fintech company that offers affordable inventory financing to small merchants; and Pack2Earth, a materials company that offers bio-based packaging alternatives to single-use plastics.

“Sustainability is embedded as the fourth strategic pillar of Mondelez International’s growth strategy,” said Christine Montenegro McGrath, chief impact and sustainability officer at Mondelez. “These Sustainable Futures investments are part of our company’s investments in new, scalable solutions that we believe can address key challenges and, in turn, help create long-term business resilience while contributing to a thriving future for people and planet.”

In addition to its direct investments, Mondelez offers capacity-building support to early-stage companies backed by Sustainable Futures investments. This supports the organizations’ ability to test their solutions in larger-scale pilots and scientific approaches.

Mondelez is also maintaining its contributions to impact funds. One example of this is the company’s role in a coalition supporting the launch of Circulate Capital’s Latin American and Caribbean Ocean Fund in May 2023, which focuses on supporting local innovators working on scalable solutions for plastic waste in Latin America.

Mondelez also invested in the Circulate Capital Ocean Fund in 2024, which helped it circulate/avoid more than 7,600 tons of plastic, reduce more than 10,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions, and support the creation of more than 34,900 tons in recycling infrastructure capacity in India and Southeast Asia
