GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Meijer, a Midwestern retailer that operates in more than 250 locations throughout the region, has announced the launch of a new online custom cake ordering system designed to help consumers cut down on trips to the store.

The launch comes in early September, the most common birthday month in the US according to TIME Magazine, with nine out of 10 of the most popular birthday dates falling between Sept. 9 and Sept. 20.

“With school just getting started and so many birthdays taking place in September, parents need all the help they can get, which is why we’re pleased to offer this online solution,” said Rochelle Bird, Meijer’s cakes buyer. “The new online ordering system allows busy parents to order a cake from the comfort of their homes with just a few days’ notice and then pick it up during their pre-party shopping trip.”

The cake ordering process is four simple steps: choose the Meijer store you want to pick up from, choose one of hundreds of cake styles by design or occasion, add flavor and color customizations and a personal message, and then pick up and pay in store 2-4 days after placing the order.

Although the launch is just in time for birthday season, the system is designed for every event. From sporting events to baby showers to graduations, there is a cake available for every occasion. Customers can also choose tiered cakes, cupcake pull-apart cakes and variety platters.

The Meijer bakery also offers other items such as fresh bread, donuts and cookies. To explore the new online ordering tool, visit this website.
