“The pandemic has significantly impacted the foodservice industry, and the needs of operators have shifted,” said Brie Buenning, director of marketing for La Brea Bakery. “Operators are looking for product solutions that help address labor constraints and can be used in multiple applications across the menu. When we examined our portfolio, we saw an opportunity to enhance our sandwich carriers to address operators’ changing needs in a challenging environment.”

The brand’s improvements include a renewed assortment of carrier breads meant to help operators simplify their inventory with versatile baked goods that meet their needs. This includes brioche buns, telera rolls and sliders, la baccia and ciabatta rolls (both in square and rectangle varieties), sourdough and French demi baguettes, ¼ focaccia and multi grain sliced sandwich bread.

La Brea’s carriers now have an increased shelf life thanks to natural enzyme technology that lets carriers be kept ambient longer. As a result, operators can free up freezer space and use bread over several days, a change that decreases waste while maximizing profits.

The revamped carriers are now sold in a “Thaw & Sell” format. Rather than needing to be baked prior to serving like parbaked products, the brand’s “Thaw & Sell” bread reduces labor, saves time and eases the use of the brand’s products.

Following with trends like plant-based and vegan diets, La Brea Bakery is following suit with its carriers. Apart from its Brioche buns and multigrain sliced sandwich bread, the brand’s carriers are free of all animal products.

“We’re proud to be able to make these changes while maintaining what La Brea Bakery bread is known for: delicious artisan bread made with time and care that elevates any eating experience,” Buenning said.

More information on the brand’s sandwich carriers can be found on the La Brea Bakery website.
