YAKIMA, WA. – Kwik Lok Corporation, a global market leader in bag closures, announced that it has created two new leadership positions: a chief people officer (CPO) and a global director of marketing and communications. The company noted that both positions are aimed at creating global consistency and a culture of engagement and inclusion.

Christy Pettey, Kwik Lok’s current director of human resources, will be stepping into the CPO role. Pettey has been with the company since December 2020 and held a variety of different roles at Bechtel National, Inc. over the course of 15 years prior to joining the Kwik Lok team. In this new position, she will be responsible for Kwik Lok’s “total people strategy” and global culture, overseeing all human resource activity.

“Our goal is to create an environment where employees can learn, grow and be curious,” said Don Carrell, CEO of Kwik Lok. “We want our employees to be comfortable expressing ideas. It is important that this is a global role with visibility and advocacy on our leadership team.”

The company has asked Karen Reed to step in as the global marketing and communications director. This role is responsible for supporting the global brand as well as corporate communications including public relations, marketing and employee communications. Reed has been at the company for more than 3 years and spearheaded the development of Kwik Lok’s new branding and the launch of Eco-Lok, the world’s first sustainable closure. Reed was also previously the director of marketing and communications for Seattle Public Utilities prior to joining the Kwik Lok team.

Ron Cardey, senior VP of customer engagement, expressed his optimism with the creation of the new role and commented on how it is critical for global consistency.

“Kwik Lok is privileged to sell our products in almost 100 countries around the world. It is our intention that no matter where your business is located you will have a consistent, positive experience and our employees will have the tools to make that possible,” Cardey said. “By creating this role, we are working to assure that all of our plants and offices are working together with the same goals and objectives.”
