LAUREL, NJ — Consumers are increasingly craving boldness from their snacks, with a focus on flavor-packed varieties of classic favorites.
For more than 50 years, J&J Snack Foods’ Superpretzel has been a freezer aisle staple. Now — just in time for National Pretzel Day on April 26 — it’s getting an upgrade.
The snack company is reformulating its Superpretzel recipe to deliver a softer texture and richer, more traditional Bavarian-style flavor.
“As demand for our Bavarian-style pretzel rises, we saw an opportunity to bring that same recipe to our 2.5-ounce Twisted Pretzels,” said Kirsten Leo, director of R&D at J&J Snack Foods.
The pretzels still feature the same shape, prep, price and vegan recipe, but now have a more robust flavor, revamped texture and fresh packaging.
“We have a passion for pretzels at J&J Snack Foods, and Superpretzel has remained a household favorite,” said Lynwood Mallard, chief marketing officer at J&J Snack Foods. “We listened to our customers and made small but meaningful recipe updates to enhance the product while keeping the signature twist, convenience and vegan-friendly recipe our fans love.”
Consumers can find the new Superpretzel products in retailers nationwide.
