J.M. Smucker CEO named Consumer Brands Association chair

ARLINGTON, VA — The Consumer Brands Association (Consumer Brands), an organization championing the CPG industry, has announced its next board chair.

Effective Jan. 1, Mark Smucker, CEO and chair of The J.M. Smucker Co., will succeed Linda Rendle, chair and CEO of The Clorox Co., in the leadership role.

Before serving as CEO of the CPG company, Smucker held various leadership roles, including terms as president of two key divisions. During his term at J.M. Smucker, the company acquired Hostess Brands, forming a Sweet Baked Snacks business unit.

“With a proven track record of driving consumer-centric innovation and a deep passion for the CPG industry, Mark is well positioned to serve as our next board chair,” said Melissa Hockstad, president and CEO of Consumer Brands. “As the fifth-generation member of his family to lead the iconic company, Mark has demonstrated his ability to navigate rapidly changing environments, meet evolving consumer preferences and further grow a portfolio of brands that Americans love and trust. Smucker first joined the association’s board in 2016 and began his tenure as vice chair in 2024. With this shift in roles, Rendle will step in as board vice chair.
