LOUISVILLE, CO — Izzio Artisan Bakery, a Colorado-based artisan baking company focused on finished loaves and take-and-bake products, has launched new at-home recyclable packaging, beginning to roll out for its take-and-bake goods.

The brand’s core focus is on small-batch sourdough breads, and it aims to make the production of these goods as sustainable as possible. This new packaging is not only recyclable but also bakeable, letting consumers bake the bread right in the bag.

Another key benefit of this new packaging is that it can be recycled in the consumer’s home. Many recyclable products require in-store drop offs, adding an extra step for consumers and increasing the amount of non-recyclable waste that ends up in residential bins. This bag uses 100% PET plastic, which is suitable for most curbside recycling programs.

The company says the launch falls in line with the greater consumer focus on sustainable products, citing that 47% of Americans opt for recyclable products as their first choice.

“It’s important to us to make recycling not just possible, but also really accessible to our community,” said Sara Kafadar, Izzio’s chief commercial officer. “As the most widely recycled type of plastic, PET #1 was the obvious choice for our new packaging material. We know our customers value sustainability, but we also know that they value their time, so removing pain points and eliminating extra steps was a top priority.”
