CHICAGO — Each year, the American Society of Baking (ASB) makes room to honor influential legacy members of the baking industry via its Hall of Fame during its annual BakingTECH conference. That tradition carried on in the 2026 edition of the event, taking place Feb. 17-19 in Chicago. The Class of 2026, unveiled October 2025 during a ceremony at the Bundy Baking Museum, was formally recognized in front of a sea of industry vets and newcomers alike.
“This class marks our 20th anniversary, which is amazing. Getting to present this honor to some of our industry’s greatest contributors and innovators,” said Tom McCurry, ASB Hall of Fame committee chair.
This year, seven honorees were added to a list of legacy industry members. This includes James (Jim) Martin, president of Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe.
“I have to be honest and say I was surprised by and shocked when I heard that I was going to be inducted …” Martin said. “I want to thank the committee that selected me. I’m still in amazement.”
When Tom Woods of Lewis Bakeries took to the stage to accept the distinction, he took a moment to offer gratitude for the mentors who guided his career.
