DENVER — Paul Chan, a director with Dawn Foods, passed away Sept. 1. He was 66 years old.
A long-time member of the commercial baking industry, Chan held several executive leadership roles with bakeries during his career, including East Balt Bakeries, Gold Standard Baking and Mile Hi Bakery. He joined Dawn Foods in 2021.
He was also a bakery owner, opening his first bakery, The Bagelry, in Salt Lake City in 2002. In 2017, he opened Compare Breads in Linden, Guyana. That same year, Chan founded GuyChan Global, an international consulting firm that worked with bakeries around the world.
He was a graduate of the American Institute of Baking and held master baker credentials.
He is survived by his wife Charlotte H. Chan; children Gabriel Holt-Chan, Geiselle Holt-Chan, Karl Holt-Chan and Nicholas Chan; grandchildren Isaac Holt, Anthony Holt, Maeleen Holt, Quinton Chan, Shaydin Chan, Kiana Chan, Kainan Holt and Nyjah Holt; great-grandchild Juniper Holt; father Willmott Chan; sisters Hazel Chan-Jones, Deborah Chan, Andree Chan-Mann, Alicia Chan and Yonette Adams; and several extended family members. He was preceded in passing by his mother Lorna Meigan Margaret Cromwell Chan.
