“Food fraud is a billion-dollar problem for the global food industry, and as food fraud risks continue to threaten supply chains, addressing these challenges and disruptions has become a compliance requirement,” said Bryan Hitchcock, chief science and technology officer at IFT. “This course, led by one of the leading experts on food fraud prevention, addresses a rare but potentially devastating food issue that all food companies cannot afford to miss.”

The workshop will be hosted by John Spink, director of the Food Fraud Prevention Academy and assistant professor inthe Department of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University’s business school. Spink’s food fraud prevention research focuses on policy and strategy and will allow him to guide participants through the series’ content.

The IFT workshop will provide an overview of the critical role of food fraud prevention; how food fraud vulnerability assessments fit within the Enterprise Risk Management framework; the identification and mitigation of food fraud; risks resource-allocation decisions; and practical applications for evaluating suppliers.

Visit the IFT website to register.

In addition to the virtual workshops, attendees at IFT FIRST, set for July 13-16 in Chicago, can take part in five in-person workshops, including one that expands on the food fraud prevention conversation.
