Hero Bread scales up BFY tortilla SKU

SAN FRANCISCO — Across the various bakery segments Hero Bread covers, its latest portfolio addition fortifies its tortilla lineup.

The new Hero Tortilla Burrito boasts a 10.50-inch size, ideal for consumers to make fast-casual-style burritos at home with better-for-you attributes. Each 130-calorie tortilla contains 2 grams of net carbs, 0 grams of sugar, 26 grams of fiber and 11 grams of protein.

“Hero fans have been asking for a larger tortilla to hold all the goodness of a homemade burrito, and our bakers have delivered,” said YuChiang Cheng, CEO of Hero Bread. “Today’s shoppers don’t want to give up burritos and wraps, they want an option with exceptional taste, strong nutrition and clean ingredients. Our new burrito-sized tortillas bring all of that in a format that unlocks entirely new meal occasions at home.”

Hero Tortilla Burritos are currently available in 16-count packs for $29.99 on the brand’s website. Cheng shared that the new product will roll out in retailers this May.

Currently, Hero’s baked goods — spanning everything from scones to bagels to sliced bread — can be found at more than 8,500 stores, including Albertsons and Walmart.
