MEXICO CITY — Grupo Bimbo announced that Bloomberg, a global leader in business and financial information and news, has added the bakery to its 2023 Gender-Equity Index (GEI), marking Grupo Bimbo’s first index inclusion.
GEI is a weighed, market capitalization index developed to measure the performance of public companies working on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) issues.
This year’s GEI included 484 companies from 45 countries and regions. Companies that make up GEI 2023 come from a variety of sectors, with the largest majority representing the finance, technology and public services industries.
The benchmark is measured across five pillars for gender equality: leadership and talent development, gender equality and pay parity, inclusive culture, policies against sexual harassment and brand image.
“For Grupo Bimbo, people are always the most important. They are at the center of everything we do. We hope that in all our workplaces, the associates find a safe place where they can reach their maximum potential by being themselves,” said Juan Muldoon, CPO and CDO for Grupo Bimbo. “Although there is still a long way to go, we have taken significant steps, such as the completion of more than 150 global seminars on diversity, equity and inclusion, impacting more than 23,000 associates. We have also promoted the methodology of the Leadership Circles Program, which involves more than 400 women from the organization.”
The company’s inclusion in the GEI signifies that it exceeds global minimums set by Bloomberg relating to its disclosure and compliance or adoption of the best practices and policies in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
