MONTREAL — Lallemand announced the Feb. 7 retirement of Gary Edwards, SVP and special advisor.

Edwards spent 28 years at the company and served as long-time president and GM of Lallemand Baking North America.

“The yeast industry has evolved dramatically since I began in January 1982 with Fleischmann’s (Standard Brands),” Edwards said. “Ownership has shifted from public corporations to private companies with deep industry roots. The bakery landscape has transformed from numerous small and regional bakers to a consolidated market dominated by larger companies. This shift, along with the transition from bags and blocks to truckload cream yeast significantly impacted distribution models.”

His track record at Lallemand is defined not only by his commitment to the industry and his colleagues but also his resilience and innovation.

Throughout his career, Edwards has found many mentors ranging from coworkers to his father, a dairy farmer.

Upon retiring, he will spend his time traveling in his RV, returning to the farm and spoiling his grandchildren.
