TORONTO — FGF Brands, a retail and foodservice baked goods manufacturer, released an update regarding a recent voluntary recall issued by the FDA.

According to an FDA report, the initial Class I recall was issued Jan. 7 for more than 2 million donuts produced on or prior to Dec. 13, 2024 due to potential listeria contamination. This impacted 60 different SKUs distributed across the US.

The FDA recently reclassified the recall on Feb. 5 to Class II for all affected products.

In a recent update, FGF clarified that the recall was completed over a month ago, meaning the reclassification does not implicate anything currently or recently in the market. The brand reaffirmed that the voluntary recall was a precautionary measure taken based on non-product related findings at one of the baking manufacturer’s US donut facilities.

FGF also confirmed that the recall only applied to donut products in the US and that no donuts or food contact surfaces tested positive for listeria.
