CHICAGO — The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) announced the appointment of Eric Ellis as CFO. He succeeds Mark Barenie, who is retiring after more than 30 years with IFT.

Ellis will oversee the nonprofit organization’s financial operations, including control, reporting, audit, analysis and investment oversight. Additionally, he will lead the facilities, information technology and risk management teams.

He brings more than 20 years of financial management, strategic planning and business leadership experience to the role. For more than a decade, Ellis served in a variety of roles with the National Restaurant Association, including as CFO, where he oversaw accounting operations, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and facility operations.

Ellis’ leadership and experience will allow IFT to bolster its commitment to advancing the science of food and its application across the global food system.
