WASHINGTON, DC — The American Bakers Association (ABA) spent time on Capitol Hill to demonstrate support for the commercial baking industry and to acknowledge its vital role in America’s economy.

Alongside Congressional Baking Caucus Co-Chairs Representative Dr. John Joyce (R-PA) and Congressman Don G. Davis (D-NC), ABA came together for the Congressional Baking Caucus Breakfast Showcase, which invited hundreds of congressional staff and Members of Congress to celebrate the importance of baked goods and their central place in society.

“The baking industry provides affordable, nutritious foods that nourish families and communities across our nation,” said Congressman Davis. “The Congressional Baking Caucus is proud to advocate for an industry that not only feeds America but also strengthens our national economy.”

The showcase exhibited the association’s commitment to supporting the economy, feeding communities and advancing nutrition goals in the baking industry and beyond.

“For 250 years, baked goods have brought families together at the table and supported communities across the country,” said Eric Dell, president and CEO of ABA. “This Congressional Baking Caucus Breakfast Showcase celebrates the pride, craftsmanship and innovation of our industry while highlighting commercial baking’s vital role in supporting public health, economic growth and everyday access to a fulfilling variety of grain foods.”

The Caucus was created to address vital issues such as workforce development, regulatory reform and supply chain efficiency. It works to ensure the needs of commercial baking manufacturers are represented in Congress.

“Our commercial bakers play a critical role in nourishing our communities,” said Congressman Joyce, M.D. “Baked goods are a critical component of the American diet and serve as a bridge between our agricultural and food manufacturing communities. Our strong partnership with the American Bakers Association allows the Congressional Bakers Caucus to effectively demonstrate the importance of grain foods, which remain central to nutrition policy, public health and ensuring a secure food system for all Americans.”
