MEXICO CITY — Grupo Bimbo has officially opened registration for the ninth annual Bimbo Global Race, a yearly event created to aid in food donations around the world.

Race dates will vary per country. This year’s host city, Bogota, Colombia, will hold the event on Sept. 29. The US race will be held on Sept. 22, while the virtual races will be from Sept. 23-29.

This year, Grupo Bimbo aims to register 140,000 runners, both physically and virtually. The company will donate 20 slices of bread for each physical participant and two slices for each virtual participant, with a goal of 2.8 million slices of bread to be donated to international food banks.

“Like every year, we want to inspire more people, regardless of their age or whether they are professional runners or not, to join the Bimbo Global Race, a global community that aims to get everyone to ‘share a bit of flour’ to nourish a better world,” said Alberto Levy, global chief marketing officer at Grupo Bimbo. “This year, in addition to donating bread to those who need it most, we are inviting all participants to join our sustainability efforts with tips you can find on our social networks. We want this edition to break records and be unforgettable for all runners.”

The event will include 3K, 5K and 10K races in the male and female divisions. Runners with the winning time in the 10K race from both divisions will be given the opportunity to run in the host city of the 2025 Global Race, as well as receive an all-inclusive sightseeing trip of the area’s landmarks.

In 2023, over 300,000 runners from more than 80 countries subscribed to the Global Race.

Visit the Global Race website to register or find event dates for each of the 21 participating countries.
